About Britannia Classical Institute

Britannia Classical Institute is a family-led educational initiative founded by a Catholic homeschooling family in the United Kingdom. Created from our own search for an authentic British Catholic classical education, the Institute exists to support families seeking a structured, affordable, and academically rigorous homeschool programme rooted in the Classical Liberal Arts tradition.

The curriculum we offer is the very programme we use to educate our own children. Every lesson, course, and resource has been carefully developed for our family's home education, and it is this same programme that we are delighted to make available to other families who wish to share in the same educational journey. We are not simply publishing a curriculum, we are inviting others to benefit from an education that we ourselves believe in and use every day.

As homeschooling parents ourselves, we understand both the joys and the challenges of educating children at home. We know how difficult it can be to navigate the vast number of curricula available, to plan lessons across multiple subjects, and to find resources that are faithful to the Catholic Faith while providing genuine academic excellence. Britannia Classical Institute was created to bring together some of the finest educational books ever written into one coherent online programme, allowing parents to focus on teaching rather than spending countless hours planning.

Our curriculum is distinctly British and Catholic in character, drawing upon Britain's rich educational heritage while remaining firmly rooted in the Catholic intellectual tradition. Wherever possible, we use carefully selected British educational classics, complemented by a small number of exceptional international works where they represent the finest resources available. Every book has been chosen because of its proven educational value, not because of modern educational fashions.

All courses are delivered through our online learning platform, combining the timeless methods of classical education with the convenience of modern technology. Each course includes structured lessons, reading assignments, quizzes, written activities, parent support materials, and progress tracking, providing families with a clear and organised educational pathway while allowing them the flexibility to work at a pace that suits their own circumstances.

The primary programme for children aged 5–14 has been carefully designed to prepare pupils for the formal study of the Seven Classical Liberal Arts during the secondary years. It provides a thorough grounding in the Catholic Faith, reading, grammar, mathematics, history, geography, science, Latin, Greek, and much more through carefully sequenced lessons using time-tested educational classics.

This primary programme also forms the foundation for our potentially forthcoming RQF Level 2 and RQF Level 3 Classical Liberal Arts Diplomas for students aged 14–18, offering families a complete Catholic classical educational pathway from the early years through to university preparation
